Our Story
In 2006, my beautiful big sister died in an accident. Her name was Carrina, and she was 23.
Now, nearly 20 years later - and with a decade of professional experience as a biographer - I am setting up Carrina’s Book in her memory.
The company will record the lives of the living and the lost, preserving these incredible stories for generations to come.
Because everyone has a story worth telling.
Rosia and Carrina in Japan, 1988
After Carrina’s death, I thought about writing down every single memory that I had of her. I was scared of forgetting things. But I also worried about writing things down. What if those words somehow became my memories. Later, I regretted not having recorded any memories, so I began to jot them down in note form. As I wrote them down, more came to me, and the list grew.
There is a lot that I can’t or won’t recall, but there are many things that I do remember. And Carrina will always be in me. She is a major influence in my life.
In 2025, as I launch Carrina’s Book, I will also be starting to create ‘Carrina’s Book’ itself - a memorial book that includes stories from Carrina’s family and friends, as well as Carrina’s own writing and artwork. I can’t wait to read other people’s memories of my sister, and to help my children learn more about the aunt that they never got to meet.
Over the last decade, I have worked with politicians, businesspeople, writers, freedom fighters and war veterans - helping them to bring their incredible stories to life. I have also written several memorial books, working with the bereaved to capture the stories of their loved ones. This work is an immense privilege.
